How to ask with this skill installed
Installing the skill gives your AI a method. Your request still has to provide the case-specific facts, constraints and expected output.
Describe the decision or deliverable, not just the topic.
Add source material, audience, limits and known facts.
Set format, quality criteria and checks.
When to use it
- A client needs a complete document checklist for an I-485 (green card) application
- An H-1B employee needs to compile documents for their petition renewal
- A family applying for a K-1 fiancé visa needs to know exactly what to gather
- A naturalization applicant needs a document checklist before filing N-400
- An immigration attorney needs a document checklist template for a specific case type
- A client received an RFE (Request for Evidence) and needs to know exactly what's missing
Mistakes to avoid
- Submitting photocopies instead of originals for required originals — submitting a copy of a birth certificate that must be original will trigger an RFE; know which documents require originals vs. copies
- Not getting apostilles for documents from countries that require them — a document from a Hague Convention country (most of Europe, Latin America, Asia) requires an apostille, not a notarized copy; this is a commonly missed requirement
- Waiting until the last minute to gather police certificates — most countries take 4-8 weeks to issue police certificates and some require in-person application; starting at the last minute creates gaps that cause filing delays
- Submitting foreign language documents without a certified translation — even documents that appear to have English text printed on them (like some international passports) may require a separate full translation of all text on the document
